On a Sunday afternoon...

STRAWBERRY FREEZER JAM!

I've never made homemade jam before, and I've been meaning to... Well, Wednesday at Buy Low there was this big sale on strawberries, 8 pounds for $7! So I bought lots of strawberries as well as some jars, sugar and corn syrup and crossed my fingers. My friend, Andrea, and her baby Oliver came over to help. It must have been quite a sight - two new moms nursing their babies in one arm and cutting strawberries with the other. Yeah, it took a while. But it was worth it... because WE LOVE HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY JAM! We ate almost the entire first jar last night.

Theo's first playdate :)

Friday Theo found his first furry friend. Granted, Theo's two weeks younger, but his buddy Oliver and he seemed to get along well. Oliver, the stunning long-haired lady killer came over to play (if that's what you call lying on a blanket flopping your arms around) with good 'ol big bodied, fairer skinned Ashworth baby. Definitely two different babies, but they did enjoy batting each others' hands away and fussing (ok and laughing) together.

We are blessed

Look what someone did for us! Diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, popcorn, a face mask, dish soap and a dish scrubber, sparkling grape juice, and a dollar for red box! From the card, all we could tell was that the givers are from our singles ward. We are so blessed. So THANK YOU, whoever you are.

Swingin' Theo

So we got this cradle swing for Theo after hearing how much our neighbor's baby loves his swing! To our dismay, however, Theo didn't take a liking to it... until now, that is. Yesterday was the first time he took an interest in those little stars. Maybe it's because his hand-eye coordination has caught up with his curiosity. Hooray for baby being distracted by something other than Mom and Dad!
Theo's determined to get his thumb in his mouth. He'll get it - someday.

He's his father's son.
This outfit was worn by his two cousins, Luke and Ezra. I am fortunate to have been given so many baby clothes from my sister. Thanks, Anna.
Look at his little hand. Actually, he's got big hands for his age. That's what everyone says anyway.

Your Mom Goes To College.

Actually, we go to college together. Since graduation is becoming a reality, and since Theo has 100% attendance this semester, wouldn't you agree that he deserves a cap and gown as well. A friend told me the Bookstore has ones for babies, so I'm going to check it out! Anyway, here are pictures of us in class and on campus.

My Hubby Can Cook!

Peter made chili cheese fries the other day. Mmmm mmmm... The secret to the fries is red potatoes. Peter's the kind of guy whose mind is overflowing with new ideas. I don't think he's made one meal the same. It keeps life interesting, not to mention tasty.

Peter also helped me make these delicious truffles! The inside consists of red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. So good and so easy.

What a great wEeKeNd it was!

Theo is 3 months old today! So I made him a little cake - the rainbow chip kind - yum! Thanks for the idea Milie and Mareo! By the way, Theo just woke up here.

I know it's kinda blurry, but isn't his smile sweet?!

Friday evening we went out to eat at Olive Garden (thanks for the gift card, Geromy!) to celebrate my getting my dream internship! I'll be doing adaptive sports with people who have spinal cord injuries! Anyway, the mozzarella fonduta was incredible! It's toasted bagets with this dip made of four mouth-watering cheeses: mozzarella, parmesan, provolone and fontina! Next time you go to Olive Garden, you've got to try it! And to top it off, Theo slept through the entire meal. How considerate. :)

Some nick names we have for Theo are Chunky Monkey and Chien Po (from Mulan).

Therapeutic RecReAtioN

Today in class we practiced our TR skills on each other. Each group was given a client and based on his or her individual needs, we created an intervention that would give him a skill or experience that would break down barriers and in turn help him improve his quality of life. One group did yoga to teach balance in life. Another group played the "I have ever" game to break down social barriers. Another group had us play around-the-world tennis to facilitate social interaction. And our group did the mine field to improve trust and control through communication. Here are some pictures and a video.

Theo comes to class with me!

Laura and Whitney

Warren and Allison

Kortney and Shalon

Katie and Katie
Summer

After each activity, we talked about what we learned
about ourselves and how we can apply it to our lives.

And last but not least, Kyrsten and Theo!

This is a video of two of my classmates. Last summer I facilitated the mine field activity every day at Teton High Adventure Base, but today was the first time I saw this method of getting through! That tells you there are plenty of ways to get things done. Way to go, Echo and Sarah!

Crocheted fLoWer Head Bands!

We've seen girls wearing head bands similar to these. And I've seen them for sale anywhere between $9 and $18. My Mom said, "I can make those." So she did - and my sister, Eva, custom-made matching earrings to go with them!

CONKED OUT

This is how Theo fell asleep last night. :)

Theo's Movie-A-Thon

Theo's going on 3 months, and every day he's getting better at lifting his head and shoulders during tummy time!

Theo got this old school onesie from his Aunt Anna. And if she's having another boy in September, we're going to have to return it to her. Congratulations to the Weavers!

Theo's quite the conversationalist, don't you think! We were having a little conversation when I got distracted when my brother, Geromy, walked in the door. Well, Theo wouldn't have it. He let me know he was frustrated, and then when I reverted my attention back to him, he was all happy again. So happy that we had to catch it on video.

So I didn't know what picture to use to begin this blog, so I picked this one of stuffed bell peppers we made for dinner one night. It's colorful and looks yummy, huh! Welcome to The Ashworth Blog!

My name is Christina, but you can call me Tina. I have an incredible husband, Peter, and an adorable little boy named Theo. He's almost 3 months old, and I'm almost graduated from college! Peter still has a ways to go. Yesterday Peter called me from school just to see how I was doing. He's never done that before! If only he could have seen the huge smile on my face when I heard him tell me that.
